The oil paintings are created after the unique prints. Using prints as my subject matter, the paintings are further removed from the photographic source and becomes more abstract. This process of starting with a photograph of a real object or place and changing it until it becomes something else fascinates and challenges me.
MONOPRINTS & UNIQUE PRINTS
These artworks are one-of-a-kind works on paper. The titles of my art usually reflect places I have visited and photographed. Elements of the photographs are digitally manipulated and transferred to paper. Then using the traditional printmaking process I create new images that reflect my inner vision of these places. These I call Unique Prints.
Destroying, cutting up, and reconfiguring your own work can be scary, a challenge, and fun. When producing the unique prints, there are many tries to get that perfect print. For every "good" result there are several that are put aside as "seconds". Using these "seconds" as the basis for collages, I cut up, reposition, and reconstitute old work into new images.
